Training Times
Training sessions typically take place from September to April at Newtown School hockey pitch in Waterford city.
For the new 2025 / 2026 hockey season our training schedule below will commence for the following teams on the following dates:
Senior teams: Men’s 1s & 2s from Tuesday, 12th August 2025. Women’s 1s, 2s & 3s from week beginning Monday, 18th August 2025. U18 Girls from Monday, 25th August 2025.
Junior teams: U16 Girls (2010 and above) from Monday, 18th August 2025. U15 Boys (2nd to 4th year) & U13 Boys (6th class & 1st year) from week beginning Monday, 25th August 2025. U14 Girls (1st & 2nd year) from week beginning Monday, 1st September 2025. U12 Girls (5th & 6th class) from Wednesday, 3rd September 2025.
Academy: Waterford Hockey Academy, (Junior Infants to 4th class girls and 5th class boys) from Sunday, 7th September 2025.
Goalkeepers: Senior goalkeepers (5th year to adult), Intermediate goalkeepers (2nd year to 4th year) & Junior goalkeepers (5th class to 1st year) from Monday, 15th September 2025.

Waterford Hockey Academy caters for all children, new to the sport of hockey, from Junior Infants (from a minimum age of 5) up to age 11 (U12 Girls) and up to age 10 (U11 Boys).
